My Safe Place | Original Art | 30x40

This painting is inspired by Psalm 18:2, where God is described as our refuge, fortress, and place of safety, Safe in the Storm is a visual expression of the comfort found in His embrace.

The image of Jesus holding a woman came to me as I meditated on this truth—His presence feeling like a warm, safe embrace. I paired that embrace with the symbolism of a lighthouse, a beacon of safety through the darkest storms.

Deep blues represent peace and refuge, while vibrant oranges represent fire, trials, and perseverance. Painted in a layered double-exposure style, the two come together to tell a story of finding peace even in the midst of the storm.

Inspired by Psalm 18:2 and Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you... when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.”
